Lesley, St Andrew's Hospice

"I’ve commissioned Emma for a number of years and I’m extremely impressed with her capability and skill for translating my organisation's, at times unclear, requirements into quality and successful communications across all media."

Dave, CatZero

"Emma has been producing the Association of Independent Celebrants' member newsletter for almost four years, along with occasional press releases, as needed by the organisation.  She is a dab hand at sorting out the quirks of Mail Chimp, of which there are several!"

Environmental

Up Stream, Down River

2022

Having returned in 2021 to Grimsby’s University Centre, to complete the BA (Hons) Top-Up Degree in TV Production, I chose to pursue the subject of documentary films and how they can influence society, before embarking on my Final Major Project.

Passionate about the environment and how people are fighting to make a difference at a grassroots level locally, I was keen to help highlight the work of James Elliott, The Canoe River Cleaner, but soon became aware that if I followed the River Freshney from its source to the Humber, there were three high-profile campaigners and environmentalists whose work I wanted to showcase – Canoe man James, housing development campaigner Lyndsey Downes and Surfers Against Sewage ambassador Toni Buckle-Weavers.

All local people working tirelessly to save the environment, whether that is a rare chalk stream, local wildlife, the flow of the waterways or highlighting issues with plastics and sewage near the seaside, I felt these people were truly inspirational and wanted to make my FMP useful to them.

I very much hope that it not only highlights the amazing work that they do but I also wanted to share a little of what I had learnt during my research into the area. There is a much bigger story to tell overall, and I hope that I can find some funding to pursue this in the coming months. In the meantime, if all the hours I have spent falling down riverbanks and monitoring local sewage outlets ultimately shines a light on the issues these amazing people face, and spurs others into action to help our little piece of the planet, it will have been worth it.
